Describe a HAZMAT Employee.
Person who: - Loads, unload or handles HAZMAT - Test, Reconditions, modifies, marks or otherwise represents packaging as qualified for use in the transport of HAZMAT - Prepares HAZMAT for transportation - Is responsible for safety or transporting HAZMAT
Who is a HAZMAT employer?
a person who uses one or more employees in connection with the items listed in HAZMAT employees.
What is training?
a systematic program that ensures that a HAZMAT employee has knowledge of hazardous material, hazardous materials regulations and can perform assigned hazmat functions.
A HAZMAT employer must:
1. Train and Test (Once during first semester only for HCC) Clinics must retain every three years and within 90 days of employment. 2. Certify 3. Develop and retain records of current training for each employee
What are included in training records?
1. Completion date 2. Certification 3. Training materials 4. Employee's (student) name 5. Name and address of trainer
What are duties of HAZMAT?
1. Return of a "Limited Shipment Quantity" (Excepted quantity) or radioactive material to the nuclear pharmacy, radiopharmaceutical supplier or sealed reference source supplier 2. Return of sealed source which requires the use of a "Radioactive Material Label"

What is the procedure for returning used radiopharmaceutical containers or sources to the nuclear pharmacy or supplier?
- Pharmacy must be licensed by the state to pick up the RAM, which after use represents radioactive waste or unused sources. - you may only return to the pharmacy those items received from them

What are the rules in returning packages?
1. Ensure the RAM quantities are equal to or less than those in the table 2. Ensure that the radiation level on the surface of the package is <= 0.5 mR/Hr 3. Ensure the removable contamination is <= 6600 dam 4. Follow all instructions from the nuclear pharmacy for returning packages.
How to transport above limited quantities?
1. Follow manufacturer's instructions 2. Return RAM in it's original packaging 3. A white I or yellow II may be needed if: - return of sources to the radio pharmacy which have not decayed to less than limited quantities - Return of sealed sources which have not decayed to less than limited quantities
