The AF 1118, Notice of Hazard , in the context of the LOTO program, is a danger sign used to permanently identify the existence of a hazardous condition that could result in death, disability, or a mishap.

The AF 979, Danger Tag , is a temporary means of identifying the same conditions and can be issued by the supervisor as well as a qualified ground safety, fire prevention, or health officials. The danger tag provides a means for workplace supervision to immediately alert employees to a real or perceived danger.
